At 9am we start our Guided tour with an official guide to explore the UNESCO protected Fes Medina. Fes has up to 9,000 roads and alleyways and the best way to explore it is with an expert. Fes Medina is the oldest and most beautiful in Morocco, almost unchanged since the Middle Ages and declared World Heritage of Humanity in 1981. The doors lead us to a tangle of narrow streets and alleyways around the mosque Karaouine. Its university is the oldest in the world. Visit the neighborhood of the tanners.
After walking inside the Medina we take the car and drive outside the Medina to explore the unique seven doors of Fez, Royal Palace, then the Andalusian Architecture in the Jewish quarter, then our next step will be in the old fort to admire the Panoramic view of the 9400 street of the Medina, visit the pottery and tiles factory. We drive to Meknes. Night in hotel/riad with private Shower/Bathroom.
Meknes is the fifthlargestcity in Morocco and has a dynamic economic center that thrives on olives, wine and minttea. The city’s unity of style lends it undeniable charm, enhanced still further by the beauty of the surrounding countryside.
The Almoravids founded a fortress in Meknes during the 11th century. It resisted the Almohads rise, and was thus destroyed by them, only to be rebuilt in a larger size with mosques and large fortifications. Under the Merinids it received further madrasas, kasbahs and mosques in the early 14th century, and continued to thrive under the Wattasid dynasty. Meknes saw its golden age as the imperial capital of Moulay Ismail following his accession to the Sultanate of Morocco.
After our visit we will embark on a picturesque journey towards Ifrane (the Moroccan Switzerland), through hills covered in forests of cork oak and giant cedar, home of a few Barbary apes. Crossing beautiful and tranquil passes over both the Middle and High Atlas ranges we will catch a first glimpse of the south’s incredible architecture. Arriving to Boulaajoul or Midelt, approached through a bleak plain of scrub and desert. The dramatic peaks of the High Atlas, rising behind the town, provide a spectacular background. Night in a hotel/riad in Midelt with private shower/bathroom.
After Breakfast in the hotel we start our journey by crossing Tizi-n-Talremt (Pass of the She-Camel), we will descend into a desert plain along the Ziz valley. We will then head south to Erfoud, a huge oasis containing over six million palm trees, edged by many ksours (fortified villages). Continuing along a striking route that marks the transition to desert, when we reach the amazing dunes of Erg Chebbi in order to enjoy our adventure with camels, see the sunset and the night in an equipped camp with drums music in the middle of the Sahara, this is a great opportunity to take lovely pictures of the sunset and sunrise. Night in a very nice camp with private shower/bathroom.
We wake up early enough so we can watch the spectacle sunrise in desert, when the colour of the dunes combine with the play of shadows to make an awesome sight. After breakfast we ride our camels back to the meeting poit with driver before leaving for Tinghir and Todra Gorges for lunch. The road passes through Tinejdad and the Todra gorges. This stunning area affords plenty of opportunities to walk, such as along the river through the gardens or up the road on the other side of the gorge. Later, we will continue to the Rose valley/Skoura. Night in a hotel/riad with private shower/bathroom.
After breakfast, we will drive through the villages of this charming area passing fields cultivated by the Berber women, with the peaks of the High Atlas as a fitting backdrop. Ouarzazate known as Hollywood of Morocco, we will visit the Panoramic views of the Taourirt Kasbah, then we make our way to the Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the backdrop to many Hollywood blockbusters, this is the most famous kasbah in Morocco. From here we start crossing the high Atla, Tizi n’Tichka. At late afternoon we will arrive in Marrakech. Night in a hotel/riad with private shower/bathroom.
We start our guided visit tour of Marrakech at 9am. We will start with the visit of the famous Majorelle gardens. The garden was made in the 1920s by the French painter Jacques Majorelle, with marble pools, raised pathways, banana trees, groves of bamboo, coconut palms and bougainvilleas. After years of neglect, the garden was then taken and restored by the fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Berge. Visit The Bahia Palace, a haven of shady courtyards and blue mosaic walls built for Ahmed Ben Moussa. The palace also includes beautiful quarters for his 4 wives and 24 concubines.
We change the car to walk inside the old Medina to discover the hidden cultural sides of Marrakech: including historical quarters and their food markets, bakeries, hammams, fountains, artisan workshops, historical sites, gardens and museums.
Visit the colourful Souks with their tinsmiths, dyers, herbalists stalls and workshops, ending at Djemaa el Fna square, where hundreds of locals meet every day to enjoy the storytellers, musicians, snake charmers, acrobats, jugglers and performers of each and every sort.
