At 9am we start our Guided tour with an official guide to explore the UNESCO protected Fes Medina. Fes has up to 9,000 roads and alleyways and the best way to explore it is with an expert. Fes Medina is the oldest and most beautiful in Morocco, almost unchanged since the Middle Ages and declared World Heritage of Humanity in 1981. The doors lead us to a tangle of narrow streets and alleyways around the mosque Karaouine. Its university is the oldest in the world. Visit the neighborhood of the tanners.
After the guided visit of Fez we will embark on a picturesque journey towards Ifrane (the Moroccan Switzerland), through hills covered in forests of cork oak and giant cedar, home of a few Barbary apes. Crossing beautiful and tranquil passes over both the Middle and High Atlas ranges we will catch a first glimpse of the south’s incredible architecture. Arriving to Boulaajoul or Midelt, approached through a bleak plain of scrub and desert. The dramatic peaks of the High Atlas, rising behind the town, provide a spectacular background. Night in a hotel/riad in Midelt with private shower/bathroom.
After Breakfast in the hotel we start our journey by crossing Tizi-n-Talremt (Pass of the She-Camel), we will descend into a desert plain along the Ziz valley. We will then head south to Erfoud, a huge oasis containing over six million palm trees, edged by many ksours (fortified villages). Continuing along a striking route that marks the transition to desert, when we reach the amazing dunes of Erg Chebbi in order to enjoy our adventure with camels, see the sunset and the night in an equipped camp with drums music in the middle of the Sahara, this is a great opportunity to take lovely pictures of the sunset and sunrise. Night in a very nice camp with private shower/bathroom.
Wake up early morning to enjoy the sunrise in the Sahara Desert and a great breakfast. After these beautiful moments, you will ride your camel back to the the meeting point with the driver then we drive to a traditional house to listen to the Gnaoua (Oreginal from Sudan) music that has a strong link with the Gnaouas religion and spirituality. It is played during religious ceremonies and cultural parties, same as centuries ago. The instruments include the Ganga (big drum), the Tangagat (small drum), the Iquarquachins(small castanets) and the Hajhouj (a 3 string instrument with low tones).
