Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas – Ouarzazate – Rose valley – Dades
At 8 a.m., we start our 3 days Marrakech Merzouga desert tour picking you up and depart Marrakech via the High Atlas Mountains. As a result, we pass through numerous Berber communities and stop at an Argan cooperative. We go uphill on the Tizi N-Tichka pass’s tortuous road. Before arriving to Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, we will halt for a panoramic view in this mountain pass. Because of its rich history and architecture, the Kasbah is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Second, we travel to Ouarzazate, also known as the Sahara Gate. It is the capital cinema, with its Atlas studios producing films. You’ll stop by this attraction before heading to Skoura and Rose Valley. After that, we travel to Dades Valley for the first night of our three-day Marrakech Desert Trip.
Day 2: Dades – Todra gorges – Berber villages – Merzouga
The second day of our 3 days Marrakech Merzouga desert tour provides the ultimate desert experience. After breakfast, we will drive to Todra Gorges, passing via the Dades Valley. Second, we stop to Todra Gorges, a rock paradise. There is free time to walk through the 300-meter-high cliffs and it’s river. Then we travel to the Berber villages of Touroug and Tinjdad. One of these villages will be our lunch stop. We also go to Erfoud and drive to Merzouga. To get to the camp, you’ll take a 1-hour and 30-minute camel ride through the desert. Following dinner, we will spend the evening with Berbers and their drumming.
Day 3: Desert – Draa valley – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
Seeing the beautiful sunrise in the desert early in the morning is a wonderful way to begin your day. You have the option of riding a camel again or driving right after breakfast at the campground. We’ll drive through Morocco’s longest palm-tree valley (Draa valley). Lunch in Nkoub or Agdez before heading to Ouarzazate. We then go to Marrakech over the High Atlas Mountains. Estimate arriving time to Marrakech is 8 pm. Your 3 days Marrakech Merzouga desert tour has come to an end.

Reviews

My wife and I traveled to the desert with our guide, Mostapha, who did a wonderful job making us feel comfortable and at home in his country and in his hometown nearby the sand dunes. The drive from Marrakech to Merzouga was part of the adventure, moving through a dozen small cities and towns, and seeing the landscape transform into the vast desert. The tour itself is unforgettable. Riding the camels into the sand dunes is fun…but also very easy and manageable given that we only went about an hour into the dunes. Probably like most, we’ve never seen or experienced anything like it, marching up these mountains of sand hundreds of feet high. The sunset and sunrise as well, are memories themselves. Our friends and family can’t believe the pictures…
We had such an amazing experience with this tour and I would highly recommend it to EVERYONE! Morocco is a beautiful country with warm and inviting people. As two females traveling, we were so very lucky to have Aziz as our driver- he looked after us the whole time and made sure we were safe and comfortable. My friend and I agreed that this was without a doubt the highlight of our trip. Aziz was personable and fun; we asked a million questions about the Moroccan culture and it was far better and more informative than any tour could’ve been. I would urge everyone to really soak up the experience by asking questions and learning more about the Moroccan way of life…

Some places to see while doing our 3 days Marrakech Merzouga desert tour

Hight Atlas mountains

The High Atlas ranges from the Atlantic Ocean in the west to the Moroccan-Algerian border in the east. The range drops dramatically into the Atlantic and southwest, creating a dramatic transition to the coast and the Anti-Atlas range. To the north, in the direction of Marrakech, the mountain drops more gradually.

Toubkal National Park has Jbel Toubkal, the range’s highest summit at 4,167 meters (2.589 miles; 13,671 ft). The range serves as a weather system barrier in Morocco, separating the Sahara from the Mediterranean and continental zones to the north and west. Winter sports are possible because snow falls frequently at the massif’s higher elevations. Snow can be found on the northern slopes of the High Atlas well until late spring. The Western High Atls is home to Oukameden, one of Morocco’s three important ski resorts.

The High Atlas forms the basins of multiple river systems. The majority of the year-round rivers flow north, supporting towns. A number of wadis and seasonal rivers come to an end in the deserts to the south and plateaux to the east of the highlands.

Merzouga Desert

Merzouga is a small magnetic settlement in the middle of the deserts that serves as one of the Sahara’s gates. It’s Erg Chebbi land, a world of dunes, palm trees, paths, and hikes. Explore the vast sand dunes drenched in sunlight and surrounded by a magical ambience as you wander around the desert.

The adjacent desert is the center of life in Merzouga, and the most real way to experience it is on a camel. Riding a camel across the golden sand dunes to the desert camp is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

The Merzouga desert is brimming with surprises. Immerse yourself in its golden sand dunes and be transported to another dimension!
